THE HUMBLE SERVANT PRAYER GROUP
is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an afternoon of Praise, Worship, and Empowerment on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at St. Ann’s Church, Barren Spot at 3:00 p.m. Come and experience the power of the Holy Spirit as the Presenter, Fr. Stash Birungi, from Uganda, expound on the theme ‘Dry Bones! Awake in the Holy Spirit. Everyone is invited.

KEYS AND SWORD AWARD BENEFIT.
The Third Annual Keys and Sword Award Benefit will be on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase (at $150.00 per person of which $90.00 is tax deductible). Ad packages are available upon request. Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Hotel reservations are available. WORLD MARRIAGE DAY.
All couples who were married in the Catholic Church 20 years or more, in a year ending in a "7" or a "2" (for example -1992 = 20 years; 1977 = 35 ears), will be presented with a certificate signed by the Bishop on the weekend of February 11-12. Anyone married 50+ years (1962 or earlier) are also eligible regardless of the year they were married. Please call the rectory at 692-2005 to give the information before February 1, 2012. No names will be accepted after that date. Thank you.

"Master, where are you staying?"
Today, we can see Jesus coming by the banks of the river Jordan: it is Christ walking by! It was about four o’clock in the afternoon, when noticing two young men following him, He asks them «What are you looking for?» (Jn 1:38). And, surprised at the question, they answer «‘Rabbi (which means Master), where are you staying?’. ‘Come and see’» (Jn 1:39).
I am also following Jesus, but… what do I want? what am I seeking? He is who asks me: «Truly, what do you want?». O! if I would only be courageous enough to tell him: «I am seeking you, Jesus», most surely I would have already found him, «For the one who seeks, finds» (Mt 7:8). But I am such a coward and always reply with words not too engaging: «Where are you staying?». But Jesus does not simply put up with my answer; He knows but too well that I do not just need a lot of words, but a friend, The Friend: Him. This is why He tells me: «Come and see», «come and you will see it».
John and Andrew, the two young fishermen, followed him and «saw where He stayed and spent the rest of that day with him» (Jn 1:39). Overwhelmed by this encounter, John will be able to write: «Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ» (Jn 1:17b). And Andrew? He will run to meet his brother to tell him: «We have found the Messiah» (Jn 1:41). «And he brought Simon to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, ‘You are Simon, son of John, but you shall be called Cephas’ (which means Rock)» (Jn 1:42).
A rock!, Simon, a rock? Not one of them is able to understand those words. They do not know Jesus has come to build his own Church with living stones. He has already chosen the first two bricks, John and Andrew, and he has decided that Simon will be the rock upon which the whole building will stand. And, before going to his Father, he will answer our question: «Rabbi, where are you staying?». While blessing his Church, He will answer: «And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age» (Mt 28,20).
Prayer for the Light of God
O Lord, thou greatest and most true Light, whence the light of the day doth spring!
O Light, which dost lighten every man that cometh into the world!
O thou Wisdom of the eternal Father, Enlighten my mind, that I may see only those things that please thee, and may be blinded to all other things.
Grant that I may walk in thy ways, and that nothing else may be light and pleasant.

DIA MUNDIAL DEL MATRIMONIO.
A todos los matrimonios que han sido casados por la iglesia católica por 20 años o más y que el año termine en "7" o en "2" (por ejemplo - 1992 = 20 años; 1977 = 35 años) se les presentará un certificado firmado por el obispo, el fin de semana del 11-12 de febrero. Aquellos que llevan casados 50 años o más (1962 o antes) son elegibles sin importar el año que se casaron. Favor de llamar a la rectoría al 692-2005 y dar la información antes del 1 de febrero. No se aceptarán nombres despúes de esa fecha. Gracias.
