ALL SAINTS DAY.
Tuesday, November 1st is the Feast of All Saints and is a day of obligation. That means that all Catholics are obligated to attend mass on that day. Our mass schedule is 6:30 a.m. and a bilingual mass at 7:00 p.m. Other parishes are as follows: St. Ann’s: 6:30 a.m. 12:15 and 7:00 p.m. St. Patrick’s: 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. and Holy Cross: 6:30 and 8:15 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

THE ST. PATRICK’S ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
is sponsoring a golf tournament on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Carambola Golf Club in St. Croix. This activity would take the place of the recognition dinner that is usually held in the fall. The cost is $150.00 per player, Junior players 17 and under $75.00. The format is four person scramble and prizes includes longest drive man and women closest to the pin men & women. The package includes breakfast, tournament play, golf cart, goody bag, awards banquet, music and prizes. Anyone who would like to support this activity may contact Anastacia Doward 772-4018 or Julia Pankey 772-3042 for additional information. The proceeds will be donated to St. Patrick’s School.
History of The Brown ScapularA scapular is a sleeveless outer garment falling from the shoulders. Use of the scapular originated in the monastic orders of priests and monks, forming part of the habit or clothing of the members. Essentially the scapular is a special garment worn as a sign of love and devotion to Mary the Immaculate Queen. With the passage of time lay people were permitted to wear the scapular as symbolic members of a monastic order, with the attendant spiritual benefits attached to such membership. Over the years the scapular, at least for lay people, became much reduced in size to but small pieces of wool cloth suspended front and back.
According to tradition the Blessed Virgin appeared to St. Simon Stock in the year 1251, and, holding a scapular of the Order of Mount Carmel said, "Receive My beloved son, the Scapular of thy Order, as a distinctive sign of My Confraternity. Whoever dies invested with this Scapular shall be preserved from the eternal flames. It is a sign of salvation, a sure safeguard in danger, a pledge of peace and of My special protection until the end of the ages."
By the end of the 16th century the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was most widely known and used. It is commonly called the Brown Scapular, and is probably the oldest scapular in use.
In the year 1322 Pope John XXII issued a document known as the Sabbatine Privilege. This was the result of a vision he had of Our Blessed Mother holding the Scapular of Mount Carmel, in which she said, "Those who have been invested with this Holy Habit will be delivered from Purgatory the first Saturday after their death." In it indulgences are granted to the members of the Carmelite Order and to its secular members.

Mañana lunes 31 de octubre a las 7:00 p.m. tendremos nuestro círculo de oración mensual en la capilla, donde estaremos orando por las necesidades de nuestra isla y sobre todo las de nuestra comunidad de fe de San José. Todos están invitados a venir y traer sus preocupaciones y necesidades ante el Señor.

El martes 1 de noviembre es la Fiesta de Todos los Santos y es fiesta de guardar, eso quiere decir que los católicos tenemos la obligación de asistir a misa ese día. El miércoles 2 de noviembre es el Día de los Fieles Difuntos. Tendremos una misa bilingüe a las 7:00 p.m. Sta. Ana: 6:30 a.m. 12:15 p.m. St. Patricio: 6:30 y 8:00 a.m. y 5:00 p.m. en el cementerio, y Holy Cross: 6:30 y 8:15 a.m. y 12:00 p.m.
CATEQUESIS.
Las clases de catecismo son todos los sábados de 9 a 11 de la mañana. Favor de traer a sus niños a tiempo.

El próximo domingo 6 de noviembre tendremos una segunada colecta para la restauración de la catedral de St. Thomas. Gracias.
LA MEDITACION DEL SANTO ROSARIO
Y, si la fe es esperanza, también es verdad que -sobre todo- es luz para nuestro caminar. Al contemplar los Misterios Luminosos, nos adentramos en el orgullo y regocijo de una Madre, por la vida y la historia de su hijo. El Bautismo de Jesús en el Jordán, aunque lo no reflejen las escrituras, sería para ti, como para nuestras madres, un momento de emoción contenida y de compromiso con lo que tu Hijo estaba llamado a predicar. Las Bodas de Caná, en las que tú te involucraste tanto, dio mucho que hablar como el primero signo de lo que todavía estaba por llegar. El Anuncio del Reino invitando a la conversión, la Transfiguración y la Institución de la Eucaristía es un llegar hasta el fondo de la vida pública de Jesús. Es meditar, mental y verbalmente, la revelación definitiva de Dios en Jesús y por Jesús. Con 50 Ave Marías, pedimos que Cristo -luz del mundo- siga siendo el horizonte, la promesa y la presencia de Dios en medio de la frialdad religiosa que sacude a tantas personas.
Finalmente y, al meditar los Misterios de Gloria, como un video, Santa María, proyectamos en la pantalla de tu mente las horas grandes del Hijo que fueron las tuyas propias. El instante del sepulcro vacío fue, estamos seguros, el revolcón supremo de tu corazón; la Ascensión de Cristo, sería la Gloria de una Madre que ve a su hijo en el podium merecido; la fuerza del Espíritu Santo te llenó de vida y de plenitud -entendiste y comprendiste el papel de Madre de la Iglesia-; y ¡cómo no Santa María! Tu Asunción, para no caer al hondo de la tierra, o la corona, con la que Dios te esperaba, fueron consideración junto con locura de un Padre que sabe agradecer lo que por El se hace en la tierra....¿lo recuerdas Santa María?...nosotros ¡SI! También, por esos momentos de Gloria, por esos instantes de Triunfo, con 50 Ave Marías te decimos que nos ayudes por tu intercesión, para que sea gloria nuestra vida y triunfo después de la muerte. Nunca, Virgen María, nos cansaremos de decir un... ¡Te quiero! Y un, ¡te quiero! es cada Ave María y 50 más en cada parte del Rosario. Es un no cansarnos, como nunca se cansan los enamorados, de decirse desde la mañana hasta la noche, mil veces, ¡te quiero! ¡Te amo! ¡Eres lo mejor! ¡Ayúdame en esto! ¡Confío en ti para aquello!
El Rosario, sus 50 Ave Marías, son precisamente todo eso: un repetir, como si fuera siempre nuevo, cada oración y cada Misterio. Y, como los enamorados, que siempre permanecen fieles (sean horas de alegría, de dolor, de luminosidad o de éxito) 50 veces te decimos que, por Dios Padrenuestro, te queremos. Amén.
