MISSALS.
The St. Joseph Sunday Missals for the new year 2012 are available after all masses. You can also get them in the rectory during office hours. The cost is $4.50 each. See Mary Abraham and Marjorie Pierre at the 5:00 p.m. Mass and Ivette Hazel and Agnetha Bailey at the 7:00 a.m. Mass.
PARISH COUNCIL.

FUN DAY.
St. Joseph Church will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Dedication of our new church with a Fun Day next Sunday, November 20th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please come and be part of this joyful celebration.
OUR LADY OF PROVIDENCE.
November 19th is the Feast of Our Lady of the Divine Providence Patroness of Puerto Rico. We will celebrate with a Vigil Mass on Friday, November 18th at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited.
OUR SECOND COLLECTION
next weekend November 19-20, we will have a second collection for the Campaign of Human Development. Your generosity to the CCHD will support low-income community groups in our diocese and all over the country. Thank you for your generosity.

Due to next Friday’s celebration of Our Lady of the Divine Providence, our Holy Hour and Rosary for the unborn will be at 5:30 p.m. Thank you for your understanding.

We are approaching Thanksgiving Day. Once again we appeal to your generosity for the families in need. We are asking you to bring food items specially turkeys and canned food. Please bring them to the rectory before Tuesday, November 22nd. Thank you.
The Church’s Instruction On The Feast Of All Souls
For which souls should we pray?
We should, on this day especially, offer prayers and good works for all the faithful departed, but particularly for our parents, relations, friends and benefactors; for those who are most acceptable to God; for those who have suffered the longest, or who have the longest yet to suffer; for those who are most painfully tormented; for those who are the most forsaken; for those who are nearest redemption ; for those who are suffering on our account; for those who hope in our prayers; for those who during life have injured us, or been injured by us; and for our spiritual brethren.
When and by what means was this yearly commemoration of the departed introduced into the Church?
The precise time of its introduction is not known. Tertullian (A. D. 160) writes that the early Christians held a yearly commemoration of the faithful departed. Towards the end of the 10th century St. Odilo, Abbot of the Benedictines at Cluny, directed that the yearly commemoration of the faithful departed should be observed on the 2nd of November with prayers, alms and the Sacrifice of the Mass, which time and manner of celebration spread through various dioceses, and was officially confirmed by Pope John XIX. This day was- appointed that, having the day previously rejoiced at the glory of the saints in heaven, we might on this day most properly pray for those who are yet doing penance for their sins and sigh in purgatory for their redemption.
The introduction of this day’s Mass as of all Masses for the dead reads: Eternal rest give to them, O Lord: and let perpetual light shine upon them. A hymn, O God, becometh Thee in Sion; and a vow shall be paid to Thee in Jerusalem: hear my prayer; all flesh shall come to Thee. Eternal rest give to them, O Lord: and let perpetual light shine upon them.
Prayer for Mercy on the Souls in PurgatoryMy Jesus, by the sorrows Thou didst suffer in Thine agony in the Garden, in Thy scourging and crowning with thorns, in the way to Calvary, in Thy crucifixion and death, have mercy on the souls in purgatory, and especially on those that are most forsaken; do Thou deliver them from the dire torments they endure; call them and admit them to Thy most sweet embrace in paradise.

ADORACION.

MISA DE LA PROVIDENCIA.
El sábado 19 de noviembre es la fiesta de Ntra. Sra. de la Divina Providencia, patrona de Puerto Rico, y la estaremos celebrando con una misa de vigilia, el próximo viernes 18 de noviembre a las 6:30 p.m. Todos están invitados a venir y juntos celebrar ese día tan especial para los puertorriqueños. Despúes de la misa tendremos un compartir.
DÍA DE DIVERSIÓN.
La iglesia de San José estará celebrando el décimo aniversario de la dedicación de nuestra nueva iglesia, el próximo domingo 20 de noviembre comenzando después de la misa de las 10:00 a.m. hasta las 5:00 p.m.
SEGUNDA COLECtA.
El próximo domingo 20 de noviembre tendremos una segunda colecta para la Campaña del Desarrollo Humano. Su donación apoyará a grupos comunales de bajos ingresos de nuestra diócesis y la de todo el pais. Gracias.
CANASTAS DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS.
Nos acercamos al Día de Acción de Gracias y nuevamente apelamos a su generosidad para las familias necesitadas. Les pedimos que traigan artículos de comida, especialmente pavos y comida enlatada. Favor de traerlos a la rectoría antes del martes 22 de noviembre. Gracias.
Las benditas animas del purgatorio nos devuelven el mil por unoPero qué podremos decir de los sentimientos de las Santas Almas? Sería prácticamente imposible de describir su ilimitada gratitud con para aquellos que las ayudan! Llenas de un inmenso deseo de pagar los favores hechos por ellas, ruegan por sus benefactores con un fervor tan grande, tan intenso, tan constante, que Dios no les puede negar nada. Santa Catalina de Bologna dice :"He recibido muchos y grandes favores de los Santos, pero mucho mas grandes de las Santas Almas (del Purgatorio)".
Cuando finalmente son liberadas de sus penas y disfrutan de la beatitud del Cielo, lejos de olvidar a sus amigos de la Tierrra, su gratitud no conoce límites. Postradas frente al Trono de Dios, no cesan de orar por aquellos que los ayudaron. Por sus oraciones ellas protegen a sus amigos de los peligros y los protegen de los demonios que los asechan.
No cesan de orar hasta ver a sus benefactores seguros en el Cielo, y serán por siempre sus más queridos, sinceros y mejores amigos.
Si los católicos solamente supieran cuan poderosos protectores se aseguran con sólo ayudar a las Animas benditas, no serían tan remisos de orar por ellos.
Las animas benditas del purgatorio pueden acortar nuestro propio purgatorio.
Otra gran gracia que obtenemos por orar por ellas es un corto y fácil Purgatorio, o su completa remisión! San Juan Masías, sacerdote dominicano, tenía una maravillosa devoción a las Almas del Purgatorio. El obtuvo por sus oraciones (principalmente por la recitación del Santo Rosario) la liberación de ¡un millón cuatrocientas mil almas! En retribución, el obtuvo para sí mismo las más abundantes y extraordinarias gracias y esas almas vinieron a consolarlo en su lecho de muerte, y a acompañarlo hasta el Cielo. Este hecho es tan cierto que fue insertado por la Iglesia en la bula de decretaba su beatificación. El Cardenal Baronio recuerda un evento similar. Fue llamado a asistir a un moribundo. De repente, un ejército de espíritus benditos aparecieron en el lecho de muerte, consolaron al moribundo, y disiparon a los demonios que gemían, en un desesperado intento por lograr su ruina. Cuando el cardenal les preguntó quiénes eran, le respondieron que eran ocho mil almas que este hombre había liberado del Purgatorio gracias a sus oraciones y buenas obras. Fueron enviadas por Dios, según explicaron, para llevarlo al Cielo sin pasar un solo momento en el Purgatorio.
Oracion por los Difuntos¡Oh Dios! Nuestro Creador y Redentor, con tu poder Cristo conquistó la muerte y volvió a Ti glorioso.
Que todos tus hijos que nos han precedido en la fe participen de su victoria y disfruten para siempre de la visión de tu gloria donde Cristo vive y reina contigo y el Espíritu Santo, Dios, por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.
Dales, Señor, el descanso eterno.
Brille para ellos la luz perpetua.
Descansen en paz. Amén.
