MISSALS.
The St. Joseph Sunday Missals, which contain the changes in the Mass, for the new year 2012 are available after all masses. You can also get them in the rectory during office hours. OUR CONDOLENCES
to Petra Victor-Matthew on the death of her mother Magdalene Victor. May her soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. May our Lord Jesus take them to the glory of his Kingdom and give Petra and family comfort and peace. There will be a memorial mass for our sister Magdalene here at St. Joseph on Friday, December 1, 2012 starting at 9:30 a.m. with the eulogy and tributes and the mass at 10:00 a.m.
THANKSGIVING BASKETS.
Many thanks to all who brought food for the families in need for Thanksgiving Day. Thanks to your generosity many people were able to eat ,be happy, and give thanks to God for others. May the Lord bless you abundantly.

KEYS AND SWORD AWARD BENEFIT.

Time Out! During Advent
As the calendar year draws to a close, family schedules and personal agendas fill with meetings, programs, parties, and annual obligations. The carol "Silent Night" could not have been written at the end of the twentieth century because its title evokes the peace and stillness modern women and men can only imagine.
Yet this busiest time of year calls us to draw close to others, above all to God, who became flesh and lived with us. Contemplation and car pooling?! Meditation and manic shopping?! How do we carve out moments of quiet when we open ourselves to God’s presence?
Perhaps we have to lower our sights from hours spent around hearths and lengthy readings or litanies. Between traffic jams and parking lot crushes, scribbling holiday notes and decking our halls, there may still be ten minutes - or even five - when the family (which may mean something as informal as those who share meals and lodging) can sit quietly around the lighted Advent wreath. Once a day, once a week, or perhaps only once during the Season of Preparation.
Someone we know pampers herself and her family by baking a simple recipe for gingerbread. As the spicy smell fills the kitchen, the household comes together to light the Advent candles, to pray and meditate briefly, and to enjoy a homely feast. It brings them closer together and closer to the mysteries we contemplate and celebrate in Advent.

El próximo domingo 4 de diciembre tendremos una segunda colecta para el programa de catecismo de nuestra parróquia. Gracias.
CÍRCULO DE ORACIÓN.
Mañana lunes 28 de noviembre a las 7:00 p.m. tendremos en la capilla, nuestro círculo de oración mensual donde estaremos orando por las necesidades de nuestra isla y sobre todo las de nuestra comunidad de fe de San José. Todos están invitados a venir y traer sus preocupaciones y necesidades ante el Señor.

El Tercer Banquete Anual en beneficio para la restauración de la catedral de St. Thomas, se llevará a cabo el 11 de febrero del 2012 en el Marriott Frenchman’s Reef Hotel comenzando a las 6:00 p.m. El costo de la taquilla es de $150.00 por persona ($90.00 son deductibles de tax). y los pueden conseguir llamando a la rectoría al 692-2005.
Nuestra preparación para el adviento
Nuestra preparación no tiene que ser sólo litúrgica, sino también espiritual y moral. Llama a la conversión del corazón y a la renovación de vida. El tiempo de Adviento no es un tiempo de penitencia al estilo de la cuaresma, que busca la conversión por el hecho de conocer el sacrificio de Jesús por nosotros en la cruz. El Adviento es el tiempo favorable para emprender un cambio del corazón y para dar un nuevo y decisivo paso en nuestro caminar espiritual, es conversión como preparación por la espera de Jesús.
La figura de San Juan Bautista destaca de manera especial en adviento. Es un compañero ideal, austero y gozoso a la vez. Su vida fue penitente en grado sumo, pero no resuena en ella nota alguna de tristeza. Como heraldo y precursor del Señor, se regocijo al escuchar la voz de Jesús. Este es el único capaz de sacarnos de nuestra propia complacencia. "¡Arrepentíos, el reino de los cielos está cerca!", gritaba.
La venida espiritual
En Cristo, el Hijo eterno, Dios ha aparecido entre nosotros en forma humana. E intenta entrar en lo más íntimo de nuestras vidas, a fin de compartir su vida con nosotros. Él está a la puerta y llama, pero jamás forzará la entrada. La puerta que da acceso a nuestros corazones sólo puede ser abierta desde dentro.
Fue San Bernardo quien conectó esta venida espiritual de Cristo con el Adviento. En sus sermones para este tiempo habla de tres venidas de Nuestro Señor: su venida que tuvo lugar ya en el nacimiento, su futura venida en la gloria y su venida espiritual, que pertenece al presente. De esta última dice: "Esta venida intermedia es como la senda por la que pasa de la primera a la última: en la primera, Cristo fue nuestra redención; en la última, aparecerá como nuestra vida; en ésta es nuestro descanso y nuestro consuelo".
